Pain and healing time are guide values, averaged from information given by piercing and tattoo studios. Where the figures come from. “n/a” means: too few studios give a figure.
On the face every deviation shows. That's why I measure and mark every position, and you check it in the mirror before I pierce. For pairs such as bites or cheek piercings, I pay attention to symmetry with the eyes, nose and corners of the mouth.
The nostril consists of cartilage and heals correspondingly slowly. The septum, by contrast, is pierced in front of the cartilage, in a thin layer of tissue. If the channel is in the right place, it heals in a few weeks.
Lip piercings go through into the mouth. On the inside there is a flat disc that must not press permanently on the gums and teeth. I shorten the long initial bar as soon as the swelling goes down.
Bridge and anti-eyebrow are surface piercings. They can grow out if the skin is under tension. I check beforehand whether your skin is suitable.
