Piercing guide › Face piercings › Vertical labret
The vertical labret goes vertically through the lower lip: from below the lip to the top edge of the lip. Both ends are visible on the outside; nothing sits inside the mouth.
The lip has to be tall enough for the curved bar to sit well. I mark the entry and exit and pierce after your confirmation.
As initial jewellery I use a curved bar made of Bioplast or titanium to ASTM F136.
With a very thin lower lip, the curve doesn't fit. Then I advise against it.
How to care for the piercing in each phase is explained in detail on the Care and aftercare page. The short version: sterile saline solution, don't twist, don't fiddle with it, be patient.
