Piercing guide › Face piercings › Lowbret
The lowbret is a labret that sits much lower, in the crease between the lower lip and the chin. On the inside, the disc lies below the gums, where they meet the floor of the mouth.
I check from the inside where the disc will sit, so that it doesn't press on the gums. Then I mark the outside and pierce after your confirmation.
A bar with a flat disc on the inside, made of Bioplast or titanium to ASTM F136. Once the swelling has gone down, I shorten it.
Studios don't give separate figures for the lowbret. Pain and healing correspond to the labret.
If the disc would sit unfavourably on the gums on the inside, I change the position or advise against it.
Tissue in the mouth heals quickly because it has a good blood supply. In return it swells noticeably in the first few days. Rinse after eating with clear water or an alcohol-free mouthwash. Smoking and alcohol slow down healing.
How to care for the piercing in each phase is explained in detail on the Care and aftercare page. The short version for the mouth: rinse after eating, don't play with the jewellery, have the initial bar shortened in time.
When to get help immediately
