Monroe and Madonna sit to the side above the upper lip, like a beauty spot. On the left it's called Monroe, on the right Madonna. Together they make angel bites.
I check from the inside where the disc will sit on the gums and mark the outside. I only pierce after your confirmation.
As initial jewellery I use a bar with a flat disc on the inside, made of Bioplast or titanium to ASTM F136. Once the swelling has gone down, I shorten it.
If the gums at the spot have receded significantly, I advise against it.
Tissue in the mouth heals quickly because it has a good blood supply. In return it swells noticeably in the first few days. Rinse after eating with clear water or an alcohol-free mouthwash. Smoking and alcohol slow down healing.
