Piercing guide › Face piercings › Jestrum
The jestrum goes vertically through the centre of the upper lip, from the groove under the nose to the edge of the lip. Both ends are visible on the outside.
The centre has to be exact. I mark the entry and exit, you check in the mirror, then I pierce.
As initial jewellery I use a curved bar made of Bioplast or titanium to ASTM F136.
If the upper lip is very thin, the curve doesn't fit. Then I advise against it.
How to care for the piercing in each phase is explained in detail on the Care and aftercare page. The short version: sterile saline solution, don't twist, don't fiddle with it, be patient.
