“Bites” are combinations of several lip piercings: snake bites are two piercings below the lower lip, left and right. Spider bites are two close together on one side. Angel bites are Monroe and Madonna together. Shark bites are two on each side below the lower lip. Dolphin bites are two close together in the centre below the lower lip.
Symmetry is everything. I mark all the points and you check the look in the mirror. With many holes we pierce over several appointments so that the lip doesn't swell too much.
As initial jewellery I use a bar with a flat disc on the inside for each hole, made of Bioplast or titanium to ASTM F136.
Studios don't give separate figures for the combinations. Pain and healing correspond to the labret or Monroe, per hole.
If discs on the inside would press against each other or on the gums, I change the plan.
Tissue in the mouth heals quickly because it has a good blood supply. In return it swells noticeably in the first few days. Rinse after eating with clear water or an alcohol-free mouthwash. Smoking and alcohol slow down healing.
