Microdermal (dermal anchor)
at a glance

A microdermal has only one visible point. Under the skin sits a small anchor plate onto which a top is screwed. It can be placed on almost any flat area.

How I
pierce it

I create a small opening in the skin and place the anchor plate flat underneath. Then I screw on the top.

Jewellery

Anchor and top made of titanium to ASTM F136. Bioplast is not suitable for the anchor plate.

Microdermals can grow out or grow in. Removing them requires an experienced piercer, sometimes a doctor.

When I
say no

I advise against spots with a lot of movement or friction, for example on joints or under the belt.

Healing
and care

How to care for the piercing in each phase is explained in detail on the Care and aftercare page. The short version: sterile saline solution, don't twist, don't fiddle with it, be patient.

When to see a doctor

  • Redness and swelling keep increasing after the first few days.
  • Pus comes out, or you develop a fever.

Pain and healing time are guide values, averaged from information given by piercing and tattoo studios. Where the figures come from. Everyone feels and heals differently.
