Piercing guide › Ear piercings › Stacked lobe
With a stacked lobe, two or more holes sit vertically one above the other in the earlobe instead of side by side. Each hole is a separate earlobe piercing.
The spacing is decisive. I measure it so that enough tissue remains between the holes and the jewellery doesn't touch. You see the points in the mirror before I pierce.
As initial jewellery I use flat studs made of Bioplast or titanium to ASTM F136 so that they don't press on each other.
The studios give no separate figures for pain and healing. They correspond to the single earlobe, per hole.
A small earlobe often only has room for two holes one above the other. I won't place more if the spacing isn't enough.
How to care for the piercing in each phase is explained in detail on the Care and aftercare page. The short version: sterile saline solution, don't twist, don't fiddle with it, be patient.
When to see a doctor
Pain and healing time are guide values, averaged from information given by piercing and tattoo studios. Where the figures come from. Everyone feels and heals differently.
