Piercing guide › Body piercings › Navel
The classic navel piercing goes through the upper rim of the navel. The small ball sits on top, the larger one lies in the navel.
I check your navel standing and sitting. Only if the upper rim forms a pronounced fold will the jewellery sit still. Then I mark and pierce with a needle.
As initial jewellery I use a curved bar (banana) made of Bioplast or titanium to ASTM F136.
A flat or outward-curving navel lacks the fold. I don't pierce during pregnancy.
How to care for the piercing in each phase is explained in detail on the Care and aftercare page. The short version: sterile saline solution, don't twist, don't fiddle with it, be patient.
